East Des Moines union depot
The former East Des Moines Union Depot was built in 1909 by William H. Brereton for the Des Moines Union Railway. It operated from 1910 to 1950 and served as a passenger station for 16 rail lines. It was owned and operated by Frederick Hubbell, who was instrumental in the growth and founding of Des Moines. The 110-year-old building is one of the only two Flemish Renaissance-style depots in the United States. Its renovation was completed in 2020.
